Bettertogether
We run the Shared Lives scheme in Newham and Havering.
The scheme recruits people who live locally who have a spare room in their house. We train them to offer support to vulnerable adults, who live with them as part of their family and get all the support they need to be active members of their community.
Shared Lives carers are self employed and are paid a weekly allowance based on the level of support they need to provide, and also get payments for rent and housekeeping.
The shared lives scheme offers support to anyone who is eligible for adult social care support, including people with learning disabilities, mental health issues, older people, people with physical disability and sensory loss.
